OSHA Outreach Training Program - Construction - 10 Hours

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for the Construction Industry was created with your safety in mind. This course provides you with the training you need on the possible hazards in the workplace. In this course you’ll also learn more about your rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint. We’ll bring you and your fellow students through real-life simulations to promote trust, safety culture and productivity in the workplace. During this course we’ll cover the following topics: personal protective equipment, respiratory protection, first aid, fire safety and how to recognize electrical hazards. Most importantly we’ll provide you with the tools necessary to communicate effectively and safely with your employer and your team, often across the worksite using a variety of hand signals and commands.

OSHA Outreach Training Program - Construction - 30 Hours
Are you a leader in the construction industry? As a manager or supervisor it’s important to keep the safety of you and your staff in mind at all times. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Outreach Training Program allows you to create a safe and enjoyable working environment. This course provides you with the training you need on the possible hazards in the workplace. In this class you’ll also learn more about responsibilities as an employer, your employees rights and how to address any complaints that have been filed. We bring you and your fellow students through real-life simulations to promote trust, safety culture and productivity in the workplace. Topics we’ll cover include: avoiding injuries, preventing illnesses, building an emergency action plan, fire safety, occupational noise exposure, dealing with flammable liquids, handling explosives, processing or removal of hazardous chemicals, proper accident prevention signage on the worksite, medical services and first aid, permits, safe operation of all heavy machinery on site and a thorough review of possible electrical hazards. Most importantly we’ll provide you with the tools necessary to communicate effectively and safely with your employees, often across the worksite using a variety of hand signals and commands.

Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) - 8 Hour Refresher
Do you work in construction? Did you know that your HAZWOPER certification needs to be renewed annually?
Hazardous waste is often dealt with very carefully, however how would you and your crew respond during a hazardous emergency? The Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) standard provides employers and workers that have potentially been exposed to hazardous substances the information and training criteria necessary to improve workplace safety. The goal of this course is to reduce workplace injuries and illnesses that could occur from exposure to hazardous substances. We’ll review the following scenarios and how to address them safely and effectively: leaking of a hazardous substance from a storage tank or container, chemical fires, mechanical breakdown in a chemical process, excavating buried contaminants, and unexpected hazardous waste runoff. During this course we’ll provide hands-on training such as donning and doffing of protective equipment and using air monitoring equipment.
Please note that Rhode Island does not have a federally approved occupational safety and health regulatory program for the state; therefore, private sector workplaces must comply with federal occupational safety and health standards. By federal law, every employee on every construction worksite must take this 8 hour HAZWOPER course annually to be compliant.
Trenching and Excavation
Are you a construction supervisor or manager? Did you know by federal law there needs to be one member on your worksite compliance with trenching and excavation standards at all times?
This courses covers the OSHA Excavation Standard and safety and health aspects of excavation and trenching. We will cover practical soil mechanics and its relationship to the stability of shored and unshored slopes and walls of excavations, introduction of various types of shoring (wood timbers and hydraulic), soil classification, and use of protective systems. Testing methods are discussed in the use of instruments such as penetrometers, torvane shears, and engineering rods. The course will evaluate potential atmospheric risks, testing methods, as well as egress and access requirements. Demonstrations will include shoring equipment setups.
Confined Spaces
Is your worksite compliant? The last thing any construction supervisor needs is a permit revoked or a site shut down due to accidentally not following the proper regulations. In 2015 The OSHA enacted the Confined Spaces standards which is now enforced by federal law. This new mandate includes a ‘competent person’ clause which requires each site to be reviewed thoroughly for confined spaces by said person. If any are determined, there must be a worker compliant with these standards on the worksite at all times. Confined spaces are defined as: contains or has a potential to contain a hazardous atmosphere; contains a material that has the potential for engulfing an entering employee; has an internal configuration such that an employee could be trapped or asphyxiated by inwardly converging walls or by a downward-sloping floor or contains any other recognized serious safety or health hazard
This course is intended to train and/or retrain company employees in the essential safety skills and knowledge for emergency procedures in confined space entry. This class presents the requirements for procedures to protect construction employees from the hazards of entry into permit-required confined spaces.
Work Zone Traffic Control
Not only do construction workers face possible dangerous scenarios on the work site, but they can also be exposed to the hazards of the open road. These standards set by OSHA have been created to keep employees safe on the job. The Construction Project Managers for each worksite must determine traffic control plans and be compliant with OSHA Work Zone standards. In this course we’ll review necessary traffic controls identified by signs, cones, barrels and barriers. We’ll address how to ensure drivers, employees on foot, and pedestrians are able to see and understand the proper routes. The course will cover work zone protections such as concrete, water, sand, collapsible barriers, crash cushions, and truck-mounted attenuators. Proper flagging and the required high visibility clothing for the role will be reviewed. We’ll also examine safety measures and standards associated with lighting, training and driving. Silica dust hazards and exposure control measures, including respiratory protection will be discussed. Hands-on demonstrations will include sling inspections & tie-down methods, traffic control devices, and respirator selection and use.
Rigger Training
Are you a qualified rigger? This course provides certification that you are following OSHA’s rigging standards. This course introduces you to the various types of mobile cranes and tower cranes used in construction operations. You’ll be provided with intermediate information concerning crane operations; crane inspection and maintenance; rigging inspection; reading load charts; and corresponding OSHA and consensus standards. You’ll be given hands-on exercises in applying OSHA standards, reading load charts and rigging tables, and preventing accidents.
Signal Person Training
A signal persons is a crane operator’s eyes and ears on the ground and have a major responsibility in guiding operations. A crane operator should move loads according to the established code of signals, and should use a trained and qualified signal person. This program has been designed to train, verify and validate the Signal Person Training required for employers and employees to meet OSHA standards. Our course covers site evaluation; electrical hazards; hand, audible and radio signaling; crane dynamics; load charts and basic rigging
