All courses are independent of that National Registry of EMTs and are not funded or affiliated with the NREMT. Upon successful completion of EMT courses, candidate WILL be able to test for National Registry Certification.

Emergency Medical Responder
This is a 12 week course designed to prepare you to be licensed as a nationaly certifed EMR. In this course you will learn to provide immediate lifesaving care to patients who access the EMS system. EMRs have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide immediate lifesaving interventions while awaiting additional EMS resources to arrive. EMRs also provide assistance to higher-level personnel at the scene of emergencies and during transport. This is a great class for both firefighters, police officers and future EMTs. You must be at least 16 years old to enroll and be licensed.

EMT
EMT, Emergency Medical Technician, is the entry level licensure. This class is 160 classroom hours and 20 online hours that teaches the foundation of emergency medical services. This class is a national curriculum that prepares you for your National Registry Certification. Once complete and you have become a licensed EMT, you are then eligible to work towards an Advanced/Cardiac or Paramedic license.
EMT Refresher
Emergency Medical Technicians are required by the state of Rhode Island to renew their license every two years. Is your certification up-to-date? You are required to take 8 sessions for successful course completion.
EMT Online

We offer an online program that is self-paced and can fit any schedule. The online program includes lectures, PowerPoint presentations, an e-book and audio book, quizzes, and exams. There also is an instructor help desk for any issues. There is a requirement upon completion of the online course – 4 days of practical labs at our facility in Providence, RI. The course also includes certification in AHA BLS (basic life support).

Advanced EMT - Cardiac
This is an advanced licensed beyond your EMT (formally know as basic). You must be a licensed EMT (Basic) as a prerequisite to enrollment to our Advanced Class. In our Advanced EMT-Cardiac, over the course of 220 hours of classroom time, 40 hours of clinical and 20 hours of field time, you will learn 12 lead EKG interpretation, Pharmacology and interventions such as Endotracheal Intubation and Intraosseous cannulation. You will also be certified in ACLS and PALS.
Advanced EMT - Cardiac Refresher
EMT Advanced/Cardiacs are required by the state of Rhode Island to renew their license every two years. Is your certification up-to-date? You are required to take 12 sessions for successful course completion.

Paramedic
This is the mastery level of EMS. This program requires a huge commitment and consists of over 400 hours of classroom lecture/didactic and over 500 hours of clinical setting training and demonstration of skill. In addition, a significant amount of time is spent riding on an approved 911 rescue. Because of the intensity of this course, a preliminary interview will need to take place with American Safety Programs. You must be a licensed EMT as a prerequiste to being accepted into the Paramedic Program.
